Funding will support work on early detection, interventions and personalised medicine
The Dutch ministries of health and economic affairs have contributed €2.5 million each to a research programme called Aboard, which will focus on the Netherlands’ predicted Alzheimer’s burden.
The programme is expected to have a total budget of €8.8m, collated through contributions from 30 public and private partners and the government’s cash injection. It is predicted that Alzheimer’s will affect at least half a million people in the Netherlands by 2030, according to the government.
