Dutch academy demands action to boost data sharing

Efforts to comply with Fair principles have been ineffective, report says

Research data should be accessible to the scientific community and the public as far as privacy and safety laws allow, but most plans to achieve this goal have been “paper tigers”, the KNAW academy of sciences has said.

According to the Netherlands Code of Conduct for Research Integrity, which is endorsed by Dutch universities, data resulting from publicly funded research must comply with the Fair principles by being findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable.
