Netherlands needs ‘specific’ R&D spending policy, report finds

Consultancy firm recommends focusing on research niches to encourage investment

The Netherlands needs a long-term vision and better support to encourage private investment in R&D, according to a report by the consultancy firm Dialogic.

The report, commissioned by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, offers seven recommendations on improving R&D spending in the Netherlands and ensuring that money spent on innovation has an impact. One suggested area for improvement is more specific and streamlined spending to build on the country’s good scores in several technology areas and in digitisation.
