Debate is important in reforming academic assessment, says co-chair of Dutch Recognition and Rewards programme
“I think it’s great that there is so much discussion about evaluating academics. The more discussion there is about it, the more it contributes to better assessments,” says Rianne Letschert.
Letschert, rector of Maastricht University, is one of the two chairs who head the Dutch Recognition and Rewards programme, which aims to diversify career paths and revamp the metrics used to assess the quality and success of research outpput.
