Researchers in the Netherlands need guidance on coping with public engagement, report shows
More than a third of scientists in the Netherlands are concerned about potential intimidation and harassment if they engage in science communication, a report has found.
The Economist Impact platform, a research platform supported by science publisher Elsevier, published an international survey this month, showing that researcher intimidation has risen around the world since the Covid-19 pandemic. In the Netherlands, 35 per cent of surveyed academics expressed concerns that they might be harassed if they went public with their findings or provided commentary on current events.
