Dutch satellite consortium asks for permanent funding

     

Regular income stream would speed up launch of instruments to measure emissions, members say

Dutch satellites could provide data to better understand greenhouse gas emissions within five years—but they need secure funding from the government to do so, a consortium has said.

The Dutch Clear Air Consortium, whose composition was formalised earlier this month, has published a roadmap on Earth observation for climate and air quality up to 2030, which includes pitching for a national funding programme. Talks with the government about this have already started, according to consortium chair Anton Leemhuis.
