Research council aims to simplify funding procedures

   

NWO presents strategic plan to reduce Dutch researchers’ workload and increase success rates

The NWO, the Dutch research council, has promised that it will attempt to reduce workloads and simplify application procedures to free up research time.

These efforts are part of a strategy dubbed Science Works, presented last week by NWO president Marcel Levi to science minister Robbert Dijkgraaf. In this strategic plan for 2023-26, the NWO outlines 38 aspirations, including reducing the workload involved in applying for funding, speeding up procedures and increasing the success rate in some funding streams to at least 25 per cent of applications.
