Denmark’s Innovation Fund pushed to change direction

More money for societal challenges after government report pinpoints shortfalls

The Danish Social Democrat government, together with a broad range of cross-parliamentary parties, has taken steps to redirect the focus of the activities of the Innovation Fund, which funnels public money into science and technology.

The fund was the target of criticism in a 2019 government report on its activities. According to a government statement, it will take a different approach in the coming year, contributing more funds towards solving major societal challenges, especially within environmental topics and climate change.
