Researchers slam lack of insight in Danish inequality report

Government deemed ‘trapped in the past’ as nationwide study fails to incorporate economic factors

Denmark’s researchers have hit back at the government over a ground-breaking report, which found that many of the nation’s poorer families still struggle to access higher education.

The government’s first-ever Inequality Statement found that more must be done to ensure that children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds have a chance to complete secondary and tertiary education. In the statement’s foreword, Denmark’s acting minister of finance Morten Bødskov said the report was a first step towards creating “truly equal opportunities”.
