Incoming administration focuses on local institutions

Norway’s new government will promote higher education and science throughout the country

The new administration formed by the Labour and Centre parties plans to strengthen universities, colleges and other institutions in remote areas of Norway.

In its policy document, called Hurdalsplattformen, the government says it will place specific demands on academia to create more options for students in the regions. It also aims to establish local centres for education owned and run by the regional counties, or fylker.
