Swedish council issues open data guidelines

Vetenskapsrådet says accessible data and results are part of taxpayer transparency

The Vetenskapsrådet, Sweden’s national research council, has issued guidelines on making research data available following the publication of scientific results.

The council said that publicly financed research should lead to open data, according to the Fair principle of research data, which states that such data should be findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable. The guidelines break down the Fair principles into 15 sub-categories, including how to handle metadata, what terminology to use, and how to store published data safely.
