Denmark’s Universities Act has caused “20 lost years” and deterred talent, says academy of sciences
Denmark’s Royal Academy has published a white book claiming that two decades of top-down leadership have had a negative impact on scientific performance at the country’s universities.
The white book, authored by Videnskabernes Selskab—the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters—said that a 2003 law change that reduced academic independence has led to frustration among researchers. The law has caused top scientists to leave academia and is pushing early career talent out of the country, the academy said.
