Finnish universities ‘should remain self-governed’

     

Expert groups gives universities and student unions a free pass

No further statutory regulation of Finnish universities is needed, according to a 1 March government-commissioned report on university administrative autonomy submitted to the Ministry of Education and Culture.

The ministry tasked a five-strong group of law and constitution experts to evaluate the issue as part of an election promise of prime minister Sanna Marin’s government.
