Denmark sees second-highest number of university enrolments

Major cities still attracting greatest number of students despite government push to grow regional campuses

Denmark’s universities have accepted 67,500 students into higher education programmes for the academic year starting 1 September—the second-highest number ever recorded.

The high acceptance rate is just slightly behind last year’s record, when, according to the Danish government, more people than ever enrolled in a higher education course as the job market contracted due to the coronavirus pandemic. In total, 93,388 people applied for a university degree in 2021.
