Aalborg stops courses over government relocation plan

University to shut down programmes in anticipation of regionalisation move

Denmark’s Aalborg University has announced that it will close 18 of its study programmes in Aalborg and Copenhagen. 

The decision, announced on 12 January, is the result of the Danish government’s plan to spread opportunities for higher education more evenly throughout the country. In June last year the government reached an agreement with a broad majority of the parliamentary parties on a framework to improve the educational opportunities in Denmark.
