Report shows evidence of discrimination and lack of diversity in country’s higher education institutions

Academics in Finland who belong to ethnic minorities are experiencing discrimination and negative behaviours at work almost twice as often as their ethnic Finnish colleagues, a report has shown.

The final findings of the Kotamo project, a study into discrimination in higher education commissioned by Finland’s ministry of education and culture, showed that discrimination was rife in academia. A survey filled out by 2,765 respondents shows that the most significant problems with ethnic equality in the country are related to career advancement and discrimination.
