Report warns that higher education is not well prepared to withstand cyberattacks and data theft
In 2021, the higher education sector in Norway was exposed to more attempts at data hacking than ever before, according to the country’s annual report on information security and privacy in higher education and research.
The report, which is prepared every year by the Directorate for Higher Education and Skills, said that universities needed to pay more attention to the risk of ransomware viruses and system hacking. This is because the number of attempted attacks is growing dramatically, although the number of serious attacks decreased slightly between 2020 and 2021.
