Finnish budget plans welcomed by researchers

Support for doctoral education greeted with particular enthusiasm

The Finnish university and research sector has given a largely positive response to the budget proposals tabled by the government last week.

Although not all the contents were welcomed by the country’s academics, plans from the government of prime minister Petteri Orpo (pictured) for supporting R&D met with widespread approval and the additional funding announced for doctorate training was particularly well received.
