Signatories back stable research careers and ‘regular increases’ to R&D budget
More than 50 Spanish organisations have signed up to a pact for science and innovation, promoted by the government, which aims to increase spending on R&D and help attract and retain talent.
Signed on 21 January, the pact is the latest push in the government’s efforts to overhaul Spanish R&D. It says that public spending on R&D should increase regularly to reach 1.25 per cent of Spain’s GDP in 2030, up from 0.54 per cent in 2018, with an interim target of 0.75 per cent before 2024.
