More female than male doctorate holders in Portugal for first time

   

Women reach 51 per cent of doctorate holders, up from 47 per cent in 2012

For the first time, women now make up a greater share of doctorate holders than men in Portugal, a new survey has reported.

Portugal’s science and technology foundation FCT announced on 12 August that women constituted 51 per cent of doctorate holders in the country in 2020, according to the latest iteration of the regular survey.
