Switzerland renews funding for national research centres

Separately, Austria will host a European research infrastructure on monitoring democracy

Switzerland is renewing the funding for all eight of the National Centres of Competence in Research that it launched in 2014 to establish networks “with international reach” among the country’s universities.

The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) announced on 10 May that it would provide the eight NCCRs with a total of 85.9 million Swiss francs (€81.8 million) for the next four years. This will take the centres to their maximum funding period of 12 years.
