Governments asked to recommit to Atlantic Ocean research

Ocean “central” to science diplomacy due to climate importance, says Commission research department

The Portuguese presidency of the Council of the EU has called on governments to renew their commitments to research on the Atlantic Ocean.

In an Azores Declaration on All-Atlantic Research and Innovation for a Sustainable Ocean, the presidency urged joint action on the issue, which it said ties into the EU’s work on environmental sustainability.
