EU governments largely sticking with push for €663 million cut as Parliament seeks €311m uplift

 The European Parliament and EU member state governments are mired in conflict over the 2023 budget for the bloc’s research and innovation programme.

MEPs agreed on 19 October to seek a €311 million boost to the European Commission’s €12.3 billion proposal for Horizon Europe, while several governments in the Council of the EU told Research Europe that they will stick to their guns in seeking a €663m cut.
