Critics say year-long Conference on the Future of Europe neglected research and innovation

The culmination of a year-long initiative to engage citizens in EU policymaking has left academic groups disappointed by a lack of focus on research.

“Was there enough research in there? The answer is no, there should have been more,” Mattias Björnmalm, deputy secretary general of the Cesaer association of science and technology-focused universities, told Research Europe.
