Ursula von der Leyen and Joe Biden reaffirm commitment to freedom of speech

Political leaders in Europe and the United States have decried an attack on Salman Rushdie, which has left the acclaimed novelist with severe injuries.

European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen and US president Joe Biden also expressed their support for freedom of expression in light of Rushdie having lived with death threats for decades due to his creative and intellectual work.
