MEP Christian Ehler says actions of pan-European associations alone will not prevent cuts
The influential MEP Christian Ehler has called on universities and other research organisations to apply pressure at national level to protect the EU’s 2023 R&D budget, which member state governments are trying to cut.
In recent weeks, groups including the League of European Research Universities (Leru) and the European Association of Research and Technology Organisations (Earto) have protested the Council of the EU’s effort to cut €663 million from the European Commission’s €12.3 billion 2023 budget proposal for the Horizon Europe programme.
