Gabriel: ‘much more’ research spending needed for resilience

Innovation and education commissioner also stresses need to bring industry and education closer together

The EU needs to invest “much more” in fundamental research to boost its resilience to challenges like the pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, its research, innovation and education commissioner Mariya Gabriel has said.

“It’s really important to continue to invest in research,” Gabriel (pictured) said on 18 January in a session of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, called Rewiring the Globe for Resilience.
