European Medicines Agency sees requests for help rise by a fifth but licence applications decrease

The European Medicines Agency saw a 20 per cent increase in requests for scientific advice from medicines developers in the first half of 2021 compared with the previous year, driven by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The regulator also reported that over the same period, the number of applications for drug licences dropped compared with 2020.
