EU agrees new rules to open up data for research and innovation

            

Legislation will create EU-wide sharing systems for data from public and private sectors

A new EU law to facilitate more sharing of data from the public and private sectors in order to boost research and innovation has been provisionally agreed by legislators.

Negotiators representing member states in the Council of the EU and European Parliament reached the agreement on 30 November.
