Mixed reception for proposed European open-access law

   

Concern that proposal from libraries “legally impossible” despite “noble ambition”

A proposal from research libraries for a European law to ensure publicly funded academic articles can be made openly available immediately has received a mixed reception.

The Association of European Research Libraries, Liber, published a draft version of its proposed law earlier this month and is campaigning for it to be adopted by either the EU or national governments.
