EU sets out plan to boost clinical trials amid new regulation

           

Efforts focused on encouraging bigger, multinational studies as new clinical trials regulation comes into force

The EU has launched an initiative to boost the bloc’s capacity to get new medicines to patients by improving clinical trials, including by encouraging the use of more large-scale multinational studies.

The Accelerating Clinical Trials in the EU initiative, announced on 13 January, aims to “transform” how clinical trials are initiated, designed and run by making the most of new EU-wide regulations.
