‘Clear’ benefits from research under proposed health data space

Study for European Parliament research committee finds proposal would speed treatment development

A new initiative to improve access to patients’ healthcare data across the EU for activities including research will have clear economic benefits, according to a new study.

The study, carried out for the European Parliament’s research committee and published on 16 January, says that benefits from the use of such data for research and public-health planning would include faster and more efficient drug development and better public-health decisions.
