University group seeks EU support for digital campuses

Group also wants to harness artificial intelligence to offer personalised learning experiences

A group of 14 universities has called on the EU to help universities develop online campuses for digital teaching and learning, saying that digital disruptions to the traditional delivery of higher education have been accelerated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Universities are moving beyond online courses and are building fully online campuses using artificial intelligence, virtual reality, big data and blockchain,” the European Consortium of Innovative Universities said in a paper it published on 3 September, which was its input to an EU call for feedback on a digital education action plan.
