EU-approved ‘micro-credentials’ proposed to boost adult learning

European Commission plans tackle challenges it says prevent people honing their skills

The EU is considering proposals to boost adult learning by adopting a Europe-wide approach to ‘micro-credentials’—small-scale certificates of learning—and person-specific learning ‘accounts’.

Under the proposals set out by the European Commission on 10 December, EU member states would agree on principles for micro-credentials so that they can be applied across borders, sectors and institutions.
