Universities say funding is key to efforts to go green

European University Association survey finds underfunding is main challenge to environmental sustainability

A lack of funding is the biggest obstacle to universities increasing their environmental sustainability, according to a new survey.

Questioned by the European University Association, 53 per cent of 305 higher education institutions across Europe responded that underfunding was an obstacle to them implementing ‘greening’ measures.
