Digital skills need more EU support, says Court of Auditors

Digital training received only 2 per cent of funding under 2014-20 European Social Fund

The EU must do more to help its citizens gain digital skills, according to the European Court of Auditors, which provides an external check on the bloc’s public spending.

“In today’s world, digital skills are increasingly important,” the ECA said on 23 February, as it presented the findings of a review. “However, within the EU, little progress has been made in recent years in improving basic digital competence among adult Europeans.”
