Research-intensive universities group joins growing chorus of complaints about data protection regulation’s stifling effects

Problems with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation are driving academics to avoid sharing health data, the Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities has warned in the latest salvo against the keystone piece of legislation.

GDPR is meant to safeguard personal data, but a growing number of research groups are now calling for more to be done to prevent it stymieing vital work on diseases ranging from dementia to vaccines.
