Experts welcome draft European Commission guidelines, but say dangers of collaboration are not fully covered

Experts have praised a leaked draft of long-awaited European Commission guidelines on tackling “foreign interference” in EU R&D but said they should cover a broader range of dangers in international cooperation.

The overall message of the guidelines, which have been circulated for community discussion, is that good risk management can allow international collaboration to go ahead despite dangers such as the prospect of data theft, corruptive political influence and reputational damage.
