‘More generous’ funding needed for university transformation

Governments must commit to basic and long-term funding for higher education, says university group

Policymakers crafting a strategy on the future of the EU’s universities should consider the need for a “more generous, structured and coordinated approach” to higher education funding, according to the Young European Research Universities Network.

National and EU leaders must “ensure that higher education institutions can access sustainable funding in order to be able to truly transform”, Yerun said in a 2 July policy paper outlining its vision for universities in 2030, which comes as the EU gathers feedback from the sector in preparation for its forthcoming strategy on universities.
