Unions to campaign for higher education funding and autonomy

Funding should not be tied to quality assessments, European education unions say

European education trade unions have agreed to push for “no strings attached” funding for research at higher education institutions while warning of a “direct assault” on academic freedom.

Delegates representing 11 million education workers met virtually on 5-6 July for a conference about responding to the Covid-19 pandemic and its impacts on education, at which they adopted a series of resolutions including one on research and higher education.
