European university group warns against political ‘protectionism’

Leru reiterates call for EU to give Switzerland and UK-based researchers access to Horizon Europe

A pan-European university group has warned against the rise of “protectionism” among politicians on the continent, and called for leaders to instead support cooperation on research and innovation.

Rectors of the 23 member institutions of the League of European Research Universities said in a joint statement adopted last week that they were “concerned about the emerging protectionism, loss of prosperity and threat to vital infrastructure in Europe”.
