Agreement on assessment reform fails to convince all stakeholders

Minority of respondents to poll not likely to sign up to EU-led plan

A widely anticipated EU-led agreement on reforming research assessment has failed to win the backing of all stakeholders consulted on its development, in an initial poll.

The agreement, coordinated by the European Commission, has been drawn up as a way for research organisations to commit to improving how they assess institutions, projects and researchers, by making assessment fairer and more reflective of the breadth of research roles and outputs.
