Money from EU is still not enough, representatives of university alliances say
The funding available for the European Universities Initiative, the EU’s scheme for financing cross-border collaborations among higher education institutions, is still “too weak”, according to several of the funded alliances.
Forty-one EUI alliances involving more than 280 institutions have so far been allocated up to €7 million each from the EU’s Erasmus+ academic mobility and Horizon Europe R&D programmes, for collaborative work such as creating joint campuses, qualifications and posts. A further call that closed in March offered an additional €272m in total to new and existing alliances.
