It’s all systems go on Horizon Europe, but there are kinks to iron out

As any inventor knows, some flaws—in a product or process—are so small they will only show up after some time. Repeated testing is necessary to identify and fix them before launch. 

With Horizon Europe, the EU’s latest seven-year research funding programme, a test phase is impossible. The programme, launched this year, must follow on smoothly from its predecessor to ensure researchers have uninterrupted access to funding. It must build on Horizon 2020’s successes while at the same time trying to foretell the cutting-edge research of the future.
