Collaboration between universities is firmly under the spotlight

Limiting climate change, dealing with Covid-19 and its fallout, kickstarting innovation: many of the EU’s biggest challenges have research firmly at their heart. But if they are to be tackled effectively, R&D efforts across the bloc need to be better supported by policy, and better connected to each other.

The much-anticipated European strategy for universities, a proposal for which is due to be published by the European Commission this month, offers the chance for a significant step forward in both respects.
