Pacific peoples underrepresented in science, report says

NZ ministry recommends earlier exposure to technology and clearer pathways into science careers

The New Zealand government has backed a report calling for more pathways into science and technology for Pasifika people.

The Lalanga Fou, or Ministry for Pacific Peoples, issued its Languages and High-Tech Fono report in December. It covers Pacific languages as well as technology issues, drawing on a major fono, or meeting, of 140 community leaders in November 2019. At the meeting, representatives put forward strategies for the government to consider.
