Environmental efforts are too fragmented, commissioner says

                        

Report warns that links between goals, research and outcomes are lacking in New Zealand

New Zealand needs greater “clarity and transparency” about the aims and outcomes of environmental research work, a report from the parliamentary commissioner for the environment has said.

“There is a maze of strategies, all sorts of agency-level initiatives and virtually no systematic way to evaluate whether we’re making a difference,” commissioner Simon Upton wrote in the report.
