National framework for New Zealand outlines need for coordinated research strategy to kick-start aquaculture sector
New Zealand’s seaweed industry is in “urgent need” of commercially focused research and trials, a national study has found.
In a report released on 7 October, researchers from the Cawthron Institute and the consultancy EnviroStrat say that seaweed, also known as rimurimu, is a rapidly growing sector that lacks “strategic or structural context”.
