New Zealand academics call for inclusive approaches to tackle challenges outlined in climate report

Indigenous scholars have urged an inclusive approach to climate change adaptation in the wake of the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report.

Sandy Morrison, head of Māori and Indigenous studies at the University of Waikato and a contributing author to the report, said that “in many ways, hapū and iwi Māori [Māori communities] are ‘ahead of the curve’ in climate adaptation, because we tend to think many generations out”.
