Māori and Pacific researchers call out ‘tokenism’

   

Study suggests universities are using some postgraduate researchers as “window dressing” on inclusivity

Some Māori and Pacific researchers are calling for change after saying that they have been included in funding applications in a “tokenistic” way.

In some cases, universities have included names without permission and named Pacific investigators as “Māori”, according to the results of a study published in the Journal of the Royal Society of New Zealand on 8 August.
